Introducing Ameela®; the regenerative power of polynucleotides

Lynda Allman • Jun 28, 2023

Ameela® (formerly Nucleadyn), a ground-breaking and exciting Polynucleotide- based treatment is now available here at HGface.

Polynucleotides are new tool in regenerative medicine which are taking the aesthetics world by storm.

Regenerative medicine is an expanding field within aesthetics.  The concept is all about repairing, replacing, and regenerating cells, tissues, or organs to restore their function. The basic principle involves giving your body the tools it needs to heal itself from damage that occurs at a cellular level due to ageing and from the effects of the environment.

Why do we love Ameela®?

In a nutshell, Ameela® polynucleotides are like injectable moisture treatments with extra powers, delivering more in the way of collagen- and elastin-boosting benefits and improved hydration.  They’re anti-inflammatory too and are particularly good for treating dark circles under the eyes.  Results are extremely natural because Ameela® gives a helping hand to your skin to regenerate itself from within.

So what exactly are polynucleotides and how do they work?

Polynucleotides are made up of chains of nucleotides, which are the building blocks of DNA and RNA. Polynucleotides used in aesthetics are typically derived from the DNA of salmon which has been shown to be highly compatible with human DNA.  Purified and sterilised for medical use, they can then be injected into the skin to provide hydration and long-term bio-remodelling.

We can therefore think of polynucleotides as little superhero molecules that act as messengers to the cells.  They stimulate fibroblasts, the cells responsible for producing collagen and maintaining the structure of your skin. As we age, the function of fibroblasts decreases, resulting in less collagen production and, you guessed it, more wrinkles. But when polynucleotides are injected into your skin, they jumpstart the regeneration process, helping your fibroblasts to work their magic again.

Polynucleotides have several skin-boosting benefits for the skin, including improving skin texture and elasticity and reducing fine lines and wrinkles. They do this by providing instant hydration and skin tightening, whilst also promoting fibroblast proliferation and collagen synthesis. They have also been shown to have anti-inflammatory and wound-healing properties, which can help to reduce redness, swelling, and other signs of skin damage.

What can Ameela® polynucleotides be used for?

Ameela® polynucleotides are exceptionally versatile. They can be used to treat both body and face, including necks, décolletage, the delicate eye area, back of hands, abdomen, thighs, knees, arms, stretch marks across the body.

Ameela® can also help with lumpy or sunken scars, acne scarring, hyper-pigmentation, melasma, rosacea, general signs of facial ageing, eyebrow and scalp hair loss.

Ameela® polynucleotides have moisturising and antioxidant properties which create an optimal environment within your skin to promote the natural growth of fibroblasts which produce collagen and elastin. They can enhance hydration, tissue elasticity and tightness and help rejuvenate the skin.

Ameela® polynucleotide treatments are primarily designed to improve the skin quality.  Whilst they do not create volume or alter the shape of the face, they combine very well with other aesthetic treatments such as hyaluronic acid dermal fillers and skinboosters, meaning that it is possible to create a bespoke treatment ‘package’ using the different types of products for an individual depending on the particular aesthetic concern.

What does a treatment with Ameela® involve?

Ameela® is administered through injections, or cannula and the process is quick and relatively painless.  Downtime is minimal and there is normally only a small amount of swelling or redness for a few hours after a procedure.

Initial treatment consists of two to three sessions, two weeks apart, followed by a maintenance treatment around every six to nine months for optimum results.

How do I find out if Ameela® is right for me?

It is important to know that, whilst polynucleotides are not prescription only medicine, the anatomy of the face is complex, so it is advisable that you only allow medically qualified practitioners to carry out injectable treatments.  A thorough consultation is essential to make sure the treatment is suitable for you and that you understand how the benefits and any risks involved.

At HGface we are happy to talk you through and advise on all aspects of treatment to allow you to make your decision.  Click
